The Boaz House

c. 1923
703 Emmett Street
This Craftsman-style home was built by Joseph Barrett Boaz and his wife, Flossie
Christensen Boaz. Mr. Boaz was a former Mayor of Bunnell and editor of the Bunnell St.
Johns Tribune. Mrs. Boaz was a telephone operator.
The woodwork has been preserved over the years.
Both the original
coffered ceilings and hardwood floors bring back memories of the Wilson Cypress
Mill, an immediate neighbor to the home. From the lovely covered front porch one can
watch the sun rise on the St. Johns River and hear the hypnotic whistle of the
passing locomotives.
The current owners, Michael Gagnon and Roberta Correa purchased
the home in July 2005. They have completed an extensive restoration project
including a period style rear entry, interior and exterior painting and a new
roof. Landscaping and gardens are presently underway.
